A county “released” result must be checked for disposition. Ask the Cumberland County Sheriff whether it meant bond, dismissal, sentence completion, transfer to IDOC, or handoff to another county, federal, or immigration authority. A court order can authorize release but does not prove the hour jail staff completed identity, paperwork, property, medication, and hold checks.

Why Cumberland County Uses VINE
Illinois VINE has special value in Cumberland County because the official county and sheriff web presence did not reveal a searchable roster, released tab, 24-hour list, or 72-hour archive as of the research date. That finding should be stated narrowly. It does not prove that the sheriff has no internal booking system or that every Cumberland booking reaches VINE without delay.
The source-specific design is the key local limit. A VINE event from Cumberland County Jail describes departure or movement from that jail's feed. It may be a community release, but it may also be a transfer. The sheriff's booking and release record can supply the date, time, authority, disposition, release location, and receiving agency. Under Illinois FOIA, 5 ILCS 140/2.15 identifies release time and date, release location, and applicable bond amount among public arrest-report information, subject to lawful limits.

Cumberland VINE Check Limits
VINE does not cover federal Bureau of Prisons custody. For a federal sentence, use the BOP Inmate Locator and federal court record. U.S. Marshals Service pretrial custody has no public person locator. ICE civil immigration custody uses a separate locator, and its official public tool includes a limited period for some recently released people. A failed VINE search says nothing conclusive about those systems.
VINE also is not an IDOC sentence calculator or a universal historical archive. For an Illinois state-prison person, use the IDOC search to read Offender Status, Location, Admission Date, actual or Projected Parole Date, Projected Discharge Date, and sentence counts. PAROLE with Location PAROLE means physical release from prison into state supervision. ABSCONDER does not mean discharge. For a Cumberland jail person, IDOC becomes relevant only if a state transfer or existing state supervision connects the case.
Alerts may lag the originating record. If VINE and a jail or IDOC record disagree, seek the custodian's corrected official record and ask VINE support about feed timing or correction. A notification does not guarantee personal safety and does not replace emergency services.

Cumberland VINE and Parole Notices
VINE registration does not enroll a person for every Prisoner Review Board notice. PRB has a separate victim-notification process for release, escape, or death, and indeterminate-parole hearing notices require direct written registration with the Board. Traditional parole still applies to older indeterminate cases, while many modern determinate Illinois sentences lead to mandatory supervised release.
Use the PRB hearing hub for monthly calendars, revocation schedules and results, En Banc information, and the historic paroled registry. A VINE alert can mark a custody event, but a PRB decision or hearing notice answers a different question. Keep both registrations when both types of notice matter.
