Local news may reproduce an agency-supplied image for a newsworthy event. The publication date and arrest context do not show current status. Use the story only as a lead to the correct sheriff, court, or IDOC record. Commercial image pages can also keep old pictures and wrong status labels. No commercial mugshot or data-broker site is linked or endorsed here.
Identity checks matter throughout. Compare date of birth, booking or IDOC number, county, case number, physical description, and agency. A shared name or similar face is not enough.
Cumberland Mugshot App Absence
Cumberland's lack of a located official sheriff app deserves its own warning because mobile-app advice is often copied from counties that use a different vendor. No evidence supports an app-only Cumberland recent-release photo feature. Readers should not be sent to an unofficial product or to another state's Cumberland County.
Use the official sheriff contact and a written record request. If the sheriff later launches an app, confirm it from the county's own page before treating it as official. Illinois Cumberland Mugshot Protections
Illinois law separates agency publication from records access. Under 5 ILCS 140/2.15(e), a law-enforcement agency faces limits on posting booking photos to its own social-networking site for civil, petty or business, and Class B or C misdemeanor matters, subject to specified public-safety identification exceptions. That is not a blanket declaration that every booking image is confidential. A targeted FOIA request remains a separate channel.
815 ILCS 505/2QQQ prohibits a covered publisher or disseminator of criminal-record information from seeking or accepting payment to remove, correct, or modify that information. Covered material includes arrest, charge, disposition, criminal-justice photographs, and identifiers. The law sets correction duties for covered for-profit publishers after documented notice. It should be used as an anti-pay-to-remove and correction protection, never as a reason to visit or pay a commercial image site.

Cumberland Expungement and Mugshots
Release, dismissal, acquittal, sentence completion, sealing, and expungement are different events. The Cumberland Circuit Clerk preserves the court docket and disposition. Illinois Courts supplies statewide forms, while eligibility and procedure are governed by 20 ILCS 2630/5.2. An order may suppress a case or details from public search, but a missing public result does not prove the arrest never occurred.
When an official source appears wrong, send the booking number, disputed field, current order, and requested correction to the source agency. For the court record, contact the Circuit Clerk and use the proper court process. For an IDOC image or status, contact IDOC records or Constituent Services with the IDOC number. Do not assume a sheriff can correct an IDOC photo or that the clerk controls a sheriff image.
